Washington Park reservoirs - public meeting Wednesday
April 28, 2014
Join us Wednesday for a Community Sounding Board meeting about the Washington Park Reservoir Improvements Project.
The Community Sounding Board includes neighborhood associations, park users, and Portland Parks & Recreation staff. They are all working together with the Portland Water Bureau (PWB) to determine how Washington Park will look once the reservoir project is underway – ensuring that our community’s wants and needs are reflected in the project.
The project involves replacing the upper Reservoir 3 with a 15 million gallon underground reservoir, and repurposing the decommissioned lower Reservoir 4 to be an overflow storm water retention and de-chlorination facility. Also, due to a powerful landslide in 1894, PWB will work to make sure the hillside is stabilized.
During Wednesday’s meeting, Portlanders will be updated on the project and have the opportunity to meet with the project’s construction contractor, Hoffman Construction Company. The project is set to begin in spring of 2016.
