Celebrate Mother’s Day with Sunday Parkways
May 6, 2014
This Sunday is Mother’s Day – celebrate with the moms in your life at the Sunday Parkways event in East Portland!
Sunday’s route features a special stop along the Foster Floodplain Natural Area. Restoration of the Foster Floodplain transformed a flood-prone neighborhood into a beautiful 63-acre natural area. Completed in 2012, the natural area reduced flooding and restored salmon and other wildlife habitats.
Portland’s Sunday Parkways encourage healthy, active living through a series of free events that open the city's largest public space - our streets - to walk, bike, roll, and more around the community. Get outside, get active, and meet your neighbors.
Great for the whole family, Sunday’s event includes the Audubon Society’s "Birds of Prey" program, fish hats, nature-based games and tours of the Floodplain – all for free.
Portlanders can enjoy Sunday Parkways one Sunday each month through September. Learn more about the program, including a Parkways schedule on the Bureau of Transportation's website.
