CSAs support local families and farms this summer
May 27, 2014
Sign up this summer for a 21-week subscription to Village Gardens’ Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program!
CSA programs connect families directly with local farmers by offering subscriptions for weekly baskets of farm-fresh produce. Village Gardens is offering CSA shares of vegetables from their Food Works Farm for the summer. Each week, your family will pick up a box of delicious, freshly-harvested, organic produce straight from the farm. Each box will have 7-12 different vegetables, as well as a Food Works newsletter. Your family will enjoy an array of seasonal delights – from Crimson Forest Scallions in June to Dragon Tongue Beans in August.
This program exists thanks to 30 North Portland youth who grow their own organic produce at Food Works Farm. The young farmers learn agricultural and business skills, and how to connect with their community.
Your CSA subscription will also help low-income families in North Portland receive produce boxes from Village Gardens. Last year, over 3,000 pounds of veggies were provided to local families in need.
