My family, colleagues, and I join with all Oregonians today in mourning the death of former Governor Vic Atiyeh.
I last saw Governor Atiyeh at a fundraiser for Camp Rosenbaum. He was seated next to former Governors Roberts and Kulongoski at the head table. He spent the evening sharing stories with us, and offering advice on current issues.
Governor Atiyeh was a gentle and kind man, modest and humble in his dealings with others. It was an honor to know this statesman, to learn from him, and to call him a friend.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family.
