Ritual 660'
August 7, 2014
Starting next Monday, take a break from your busy workday, and see the Portland Building’s latest art installation!
Lewis and Clark graduate Abigail McNamara takes viewers on a journey of a single minute in our busy lives, in her latest art venture – Ritual, 660’.
On June 29, from nearly dawn till dusk, McNamara sat in the Portland Building, and watched the comings and goings of people. Recreating the flow of moments she observed, McNamara devised a floor to ceiling string-graph, covered in wax.
A blend of chaos and fluidity, the installation expresses our lives and state of mind in a moment of our hurried and routine work day.
The Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC) sponsors the Installation Art Series. Selected through a juried process, each installation questions common perspectives through art.
Check out RACC’s website for more information about the Installation Art Series.
