Though I did not staff the Commissioner on any events this past week, I had a rare and amazing opportunity to attend a Rising Women Leaders brunch with Asena on Sunday.
I got the chance to network and connect with all of the accomplished women in City Hall and other branches of government. Governor Kate Brown even stopped in to give us rising women a few words of wisdom. It is at events like this that I learn how important and effective networking is to one’s professional career. The saying “It’s not always what you know, sometimes it’s who you know” still holds true.
On another note, this week is my last week in the office before I embark on another adventure. This Saturday I will be beginning my study abroad journey in Morocco.
Until then, I will enjoy my last few days in the office by continuing with office work, attending my farewell luncheon, and accompanying the Commissioner on one final event this Friday. We are joining the Skanner Foundation for a showing of the documentary “The Wake of Vanport,” the story of Oregon’s once-second largest city, which was destroyed by a flood in 1948.
