On Saturday, Nick was proud to join his friend, Jaime Lim, and the Council of Filipino American Associations to commemorate the 50^th anniversary of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965.

The Act, signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson, inspired a wave of new Filipino immigrants to the United States. Most of the 20,000 Filipinos living in Oregon immigrated to the U.S. after the Act was signed.

Filipino-American families from across our community gathered at the Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization for the day-long Pagdiriwang, the Filipino word for "celebration."

We’re proud to live in a city that celebrates its diverse communities, and that understands the blending of different cultures and nationalities is one of our greatest strengths.
