Pagdiriwang
September 8, 2015
On Saturday, Nick was proud to join his friend, Jaime Lim, and the Council of Filipino American Associations to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965.
The Act, signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson, inspired a wave of new Filipino immigrants to the United States. Most of the 20,000 Filipinos living in Oregon immigrated to the U.S. after the Act was signed.
Filipino-American families from across our community gathered at the Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization for the day-long Pagdiriwang, the Filipino word for "celebration."
We’re proud to live in a city that celebrates its diverse communities, and that understands the blending of different cultures and nationalities is one of our greatest strengths.
Special thanks to the Council of Filipino American Associations for hosting this great event!
