Accounting for Public Interest

January 11, 2016

The Portland Building’s latest art installation thoughtfully and whimsically examines people’s perceptions of Portland.

Local artists Travel Neel and Erin Charpentier survey Portlanders to learn about their ideal city, and how Portland measures up. Their installation, Accounting for Public Interest, a.k.a. Guestwork engages visitors in critical-thinking games that compare and contrasts Portland’s past, present, and future.

The installation also includes voting booths, ballots, and questionnaires.

The Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) sponsors the Installation Art Series. Selected through a juried process, each installation questions common perspectives through art.

Accounting for Public Interest runs until February 5th in the Portland Building’s lobby. Visit RACC’s website for more information.
