State of the Arts
April 21, 2016
This afternoon, Nick was proud to host the Regional Arts & Culture Council’s (RACC) 2015 State of the Arts Report at City Hall.
It was filled with wonderful live performances! From The Obo Addy Legacy Project on African drums, to BRAVO Youth Orchestra and PHAME's performances, and more, it was an inspiring and moving Council session.
2015 was an important year for the arts:
- RACC celebrated 20 years as our regional arts champion.
- Portlandia, our copper goddess, turned 30. Nick joined former Mayor Bud Clark, Storm Large, RACC, and students from Chapman School for a birthday celebration extravaganza.
- It was the 10th anniversary of Work for Art, which raises about $750,000 annually for arts organizations around our community.
- The Percent for Art Program turned 35.
Nick is honored to serve as the Arts Commissioner. From film and theater, to visual arts, music, dance, and more, Portland is a great place thanks to our thriving arts and culture community.
