Hefe Day Proclamation
May 11, 2016
This morning, Nick was proud to present a City Proclamation marking May 15 as Hefe Day in Portland.
In 1984, Kurt and Rob Widmer, founders of the Widmer Brothers Brewing Company, officially introduced their delicious German-influenced Altbier and Weizenber to the Portland area.
Over the last three decades, the Widmer brothers have pioneered Portland’s brewing industry, using our very own Bull Run water.
This May 15, marks 30 years recognizing the delivery of the very first Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen. It is the first American-style Hefeweizen and is still Oregon’s best-selling craft beer.
For more Hefe Day celebrations, check out their upcoming event this Sunday, at Pioneer Courthouse Square.
