Joyce at the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Allen Temple CME Church
August 18, 2016
On Saturday, our SummerWorks intern Joyce Seraya was very proud to represent the office at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Allen Temple CME Church.
In February of last year, the church suffered a devastating fire, and many members were concerned about the future of the 100-year old church, a vital neighborhood and community asset.
After months of outreach, and tremendous support from local organizations and church members, the Allen Temple has begun the process of restoring the church.
Also at the groundbreaking ceremony were Allen Temple’s Reverend, Dr. Leroy Haynes; Multnomah County Commissioner Loretta Smith; Bernie Foster, co-founder and publisher of The Skanner; and Nancy Hales.
Remarks from Reverend Haynes, Commissioner Smith and others were inspiring, and we are so honored that our team was invited to be part of the ceremony. Visit Allen Temple CME Church’s Facebook page to learn more.
