Weekend Roundup: Veterans Day Parade and Muslim Educational Trust Award
November 14, 2016
This weekend, Nick was proud to celebrate Veterans Day and to stand in solidarity with our Muslim-American brothers and sisters.
On Friday, Nick participated in the Ross Hollywood Chapel Veterans Day Parade. He joined veterans who work for the City including Lieutenant Colonel Matt Calhoun and Captain Will Morita, co-chairs of the City’s Veterans Empowerment Team.
Nick spoke at the flag-raising ceremony. He observed that Americans are united in our gratitude for the service and sacrifice of our veterans.
Earlier last week, City Council thanked and honored veterans by issuing a proclamation.
On Saturday evening, Nick joined Wajdi Said and the Muslim Educational Trust at their Annual Community Awards Ceremony and Auction. Nick was honored to receive a Friends of MET Award.
In accepting the award, Nick pledged to continue working to build just, safe, and welcoming communities for all.
