The Portland Water Bureau Proposes Corrosion Control Treatment Pilot Project to City Council

March 1, 2017

The Portland Water Bureau delivers clean, safe and reliable drinking water to almost one million people in the region.

Today, the bureau will ask Council to approve a contract to begin a water treatment pilot project. The pilot will evaluate treatment options to further reduce lead exposure from home plumbing and will guide the bureau’s next steps in support of their public health goals. Although Portland’s distribution pipes have never used lead, plumbing in some older Portland homes contains lead solder.

COUNCIL ITEM 215, TIME CERTAIN: 2:00 PM – Authorize a contract with Confluence Engineering Group, LLC in the amount of $664,930 for the Corrosion Control Treatment Pilot Project (Ordinance introduced by Commissioner Fish) 90 minutes requested”
