Commissioner Fish's Statement on 9/11 Tribute
September 11, 2017
Today is the 16th anniversary of 9/11.
We honor all the victims of this terrorist attack.
Thanks to Portland Firefighters Association Local 43 for organizing a tribute to the firefighters who lost their lives in the World Trade Center. Their selfless service will never be forgotten.
I am so proud of the men and women of Portland Fire and Rescue, under the leadership of Chief Myers and Commissioner Saltzman. Special thanks to the firefighters battling blazes in the Columbia Gorge.
On this day, I'm also thinking of Sho and Loen Dozono. In response to 9/11, they organized the "Flight for Freedom." 1000 Oregonians traveled to New York to offer love and support to the city and it residents. A great example of the "Spirit of Portland."
