Nick and Commissioner Eudaly Deliver Musician Loading Zone Pilot
March 15, 2019
This afternoon, Nick joined Commissioner Eudaly and local music advocacy groups to celebrate the creation of Musician Loading Zones.
Many performance venues in Portland have a loading zone right outside. But musicians, in their personal vehicles, were getting tickets for using the loading zones while loading heavy, expensive equipment into venues.
The new policy allows musicians to get a free permit to display on their dashboard and use the loading zones as any other authorized user would.
Today’s action supports local artists and improves safety and access for musicians at local popular music venues.
The one-year pilot includes 16 loading zones with a history of parking citations, heavy traffic, and scarce parking.
Special thanks to Commissioner Eudaly’s office, MusicPortland, Fair-Trade Music PDX, and the Portland Bureau of Transportation for their partnership.
