Refer to Detectives if Criminal Behavior Alleged
Any IPR staff member who is aware of an allegation of criminal behavior by a Portland Police Bureau officer will inform the Director, who will immediately notify in writing the Commander of the Portland Police Bureau Detectives Division and the Captain of the Professional Standards Division.
IPR will conduct a concurrent intake investigation. IPR’s intake, and IPR or IA administrative investigation, remain separate from the criminal investigation, and cover only allegations that would constitute misconduct under PPB Directives.
Examples of criminal behavior include:
- Allegations of sexual misconduct
- Allegations of unlawful physical force
- Allegations of theft
- A course of conduct that the employee believes is a violation of Oregon law or Federal statutes.
