Intake of Commendations
The IPR Investigator who receives a commendation for a PPB officer will collect information about the complainant, the officer, and the incident. The IPR Investigator will provide the commendation information to the designated IPR Support Specialist, for entry into AIM and notification of the Chief’s Office.
The IPR Support Specialist will send a courtesy e-mail to the commended officer – if identified – as well to the shift lieutenant (or other appropriate supervisor) for the commended officer. The e-mail will inform the officer and their supervisor of the nature of the commendation. The e-mail will also inform the officer and their supervisor that IPR keeps a record of commendations, and also forwards them to the Chief’s Office.
If the IPR Investigator received the commendation through the mail or e-mail, the IPR Investigator will contact the person who submitted the commendation. The IPR Investigator will let them know that the officer and their lieutenant received the commendation, and that IPR keeps a record of commendations, and also forwards them to the Chief’s Office.
