IPR encourages reporting of complaints, as well as reporting of suspected retaliation against an individual who filed a complaint. IPR will review confidentiality protections with complainants, and fully disclose the limits of confidentiality to complainants concerned about retaliation. During outreach efforts, IPR will inform members of the public that retaliation allegations are prioritized and taken seriously.
When IPR receives a complaint alleging that a PPB member acted in retaliation against a community member because of their reporting of misconduct, IPR will prioritize the assignment and investigation of that complaint, ahead of other investigative tasks.
