January 7, 2013 | Oregonian-- For evidence that elections matter, look no further than the first week on the job for Charlie Hales and Steve Novick and the scrutiny they're supplying to the priorities of their predecessors, Sam Adams and Randy Leonard.
Hales last week delayed action on a $195,000 grant to pay for a summer job program for at-risk youth within city bureaus, part of Adams' Summer Youth Connect program.
But more noteworthy is the decision by Novick to hold off -- for now -- on design work for reservoirs at Washington Park.
"Before we rush ahead and spend the money, I just want to get my arms around this," Novick said.
