June 2, 2022: OCT Announces Partnership with Comcast to Fund Community Digital Navigator Grants
In a unique public/private partnership, the City of Portland’s Office for Community Technology (OCT) has teamed up with Comcast to fund a third Digital Inclusion Fund – Community Digital Navigator Pilot grant project, aimed at identifying and overcoming barriers to internet adoption and utilization.
Thanks to the $87,500 grant from Comcast, the United Congolese Community Organization of Oregon will be the third community-based organization to be included in the Community Digital Navigator Pilot program, along with the Rosewood Initiative and AfroVillage, which are being funded by the City.
The projects funded through the Community Digital Navigator Pilot grant program are slated to begin this summer, and provide culturally relevant, digital skills training and technical support to community members experiencing barriers to accessing and using digital technologies.
Comcast’s support aligns with the company’s Project UP initiative, a $1 billion, comprehensive initiative to advance digital equity and help build a future of unlimited possibilities.
