Neighborhood Small Grants Program

The City of Portland Neighborhood Small Grants program has $100,000 available to give out in grants to neighborhood and community organizations for community engagement projects in 2016.

The City of Portland Office of Neighborhood Involvement is partnering with Portland’s seven neighborhood district coalitions to give out the funds. The seven neighborhood coalitions and their grant funds available are:

  • Central NE Neighbors (CNN) -- $10,000
  • East Portland Neighborhood Office (EPNO) -- $24,000
  • Neighbors West/Northwest (NWNW) -- $23,100
  • North Portland Neighborhood Services (NPNS) -- $20,000
  • Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods (NECN) -- $12,000
  • Southeast Uplift Neighborhood Coalition (SE Uplift)   -- $23,018
  • Southwest Neighborhoods, Inc. (SWNI) -- $10,676

To be eligible for grant funding a project must benefit the community in one of the coalition districts above.

Each neighborhood coalition has its own application process.

To apply for a grant, identify the district in which the project would take place, and follow the application process for that district.

Momentum builds for Portland gas tax to fund street repair and traffic safety

For almost thirty years, Portland's streets have been deteriorating due to inadequate transportation funding. Every year, the problem gets worse because the longer you wait to repair a street, the more expensive it is to fix. Meanwhile, there are parts of the city where, because of dangerous intersections or gaps in sidewalks along busy streets, it is unsafe for children to walk to school and for seniors to walk to bus stops.

    Balch Sewer Project Update

Environmental Services is replacing sewer pipes in poor condition in the area bounded by NW Yeon Avenue, NW 29th Avenue, NW Nicolai Avenue, and NW St. Helens Road. The project will relieve street flooding and basement sewer backups. The work includes diverting stormwater to the Balch Conduit sewer pipe, and replacing dams in the Balch outfall pipe to prevent Willamette River water from backing up into the pipe during heavy rain events.
