Crime Prevention Coordinators can provide in-person training for your group on a variety of crime prevention topics. Each topic requires at least 15 minutes to cover, but can take as long as an hour for an in-depth discussion. One approach is to combine several topics together in one training for brief coverage of each. All of our training topics and material can be found at portlandoregon.gov/oni/cpadvice. Some of our prevention topics for residential and commercial training include:
Prevention Training Topics (Residential)
Prevention Training Topics (Commercial)
Trainings can be tailored for your specific group’s needs. Training must occur within the Portland city limits; coordinators request a minimum of ten participants. Trainings are designed for the understanding and maturity of adults and older teens. Trainings are usually scheduled 4 to 6 weeks in advance. If your group is interested in a topic we don’t offer (e.g. traffic safety or emergency preparedness), we may be able to make a referral to a local trainer who does offer the topic.
To request a training, please visit our Training Request page at portlandoregon.gov/oni/70447.
