Temporary Sales License Application Materials

The City of Portland charges a processing fee of $35 per Temporary Sales License.

Refer to the OLCC's Special Events web page for detailed information about which Temporary Sales License is needed for your event.

For events that will take place outdoors, you will need to submit a map of the outdoor space to be licensed. Please make sure your map clearly shows the following details:

      • Locations where alcohol will be sold/served from
      • ID check points
      • Boundary around area that people will be allowed to drink and carry their drinks within
      • What will the boundary be made of and height (i.e. plastic fencing, chain link fencing, rope stanchions…)
      • Entry and exit points from the licensed area

Your map may be computer-generated or hand-drawn.

The OLCC will not grant your license until it has been received and reviewed by the City of Portland. There are two ways to complete the approvals process for Temporary Sales Licenses:

Option 1: If you are starting this process more than one month prior to your special event, you can mail a copy of your application to each of the agencies (City of Portland & OLCC) with the appropriate fee.

Option 2: If you have less than 4 weeks until your event, it's best to hand-deliver your application and fee to the City of Portland Liquor Licensing program. We will accept your application and fee and give you back a stamped copy to take to the OLCC.
