To File a DOJ Complaint or Not

So I thought I would share a personal experience with you.

In my job I refer people all the time to make ADA complaints to the DOJ and finally went through the process myself...well started it at least!

In Nov 2011 i filled a complaint about a hotel in another state.  They had assured me a reservation with a roll in shower and then upon arrive did not have one...claiming it is a first come first serve process and not a accommodation.

This is not the first time this has happened to me so I was very clear with the folks on the reservation line that I needed the shower and they told me they called the hotel directly and checked and all was well and good.

Not only was the room not available the switching of rooms that happened on the following day took the majority of the day and by the time we left the hotel our destination location was closed.

I finally heard back from the DOJ in September and they  offered me to go to mediation. I agreed and now after three month the mediation is scheduled for this Friday.  I will keep you posted!

Hi,I am sharing this experience o that something may be done.
I ad a registered service dog up until a week ago. I took her to the vet in nehalem. She had an eye infection and not feeling well. He wanted to keep her over night for observation, yet there was nobody there to to observe the animals keep overnight. I told him I was going to pick her up and I needed her records. He would not let me get her because they were closing and no one would be there. At 8:00am next morning he called me and said she had separated during the night. I went down there immediately to get her. They him hawed around for a while, told me they were washing her bedding i brought with her. I said just put in a plastic bag and I'll take it the way it is. It took about 45min. Before they brought my dog to me. They had placed her in a box and put her in the back of the car. I opened up the box to pet her and she was still limp and warm. That told me she had just died. My feeling is that he had just euthanized her and was not expecting me to show right up. He told she had acute renal failure. I believe that he was covering up his tracks. Almost a year ago I had him spat her. After that her skin started turning black and was going downhill since. Each time I took her in it was another excuse of what was wrong. Come to find out she had gangrene from the spay surgery. I tried to get other vets to take some blood to find out for sure what she died from. Not one would do it. They cover for each other and do not want to discredit him. So now I have a dead service dog that I had for 8 years. I desperately need another one and I believe that the should provide me with one. Also I believe this practice by vets should be investigated. He had no regard for the fact she was my service dog and what damage he has caused my dog and me. He did not have my permission to put her down. He would not release her records to me or provide a death certificate. He knew I was going to take her to another animal hospital so I believe he was covering up his deeds. Please watch out for this. It happens all the time and people are not aware of why or how their animal died. They just are in shock or emotional at the time to really see.
Thank you. Penny Johnson

I WOULD LIKE TO INQUIRE ABOUT WHEELCHAIR AND SCOOTER ACCESSIBILITY TO BUSINESS LIKE FAST FOOD,
BURGER KING 122 SE DIVISION ... HAS NO ENTRANCE THAT A PERSON IN WHEELCHAIR OR SCOOTER CAN SAFELY ENTER WITHOUT DAMAGE TO CHAIR OR PERSON ..
THIS IS NEARLY IN POSSIBLE IN CURRANT CONSTRUCTION WOULD LIKE TO ASK IF THIS IS ACCEPTABLE IN DISABILITY ACCESS ,
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS MADE SAFER AND EASIER TO GAIN ENTRANCE TO EAT THERE ,
I HAVE INQUIRED TO MANY DIFFERENT AREAS TO FIND OUT WHAT THE LAW IS, IN THIS SITUATION, HAVE NO RESULTS ,
AND I MOST UN SATISFIED THAT THIS LONG STANDING BUSINESS IS ALLOWED TO GO ON WITHOUT PROPER DISABLE ENTRANCE
THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME VENT .
