Multnomah County’s Burnside Bridge Maintenance project kicks off construction in April 2017 and will last through November 2019. The project will complete a number of repairs to keep the bridge in service another 15-20 years. These include structural, mechanical, electrical and surface repairs. As a project stakeholder, we want to provide you an update on what can be expected during construction and answer any questions you might have.
I-5 and I-84 closures coming soon: In April and May 2017, there will be four weekends when I-5 and I-84 are closed in one direction under the bridge. Anticipated closure dates include:Northbound closures - evening of April 14 to early morning April 17Northbound closures - evening of April 21 to early morning April 24Southbound closures - evening of May 5 to early morning May 8Southbound closures - evening of May 12 to early morning May 15
(An additional lane in the opposite direction may be closed during these times.)
No lanes will be closed on the bridge until fall 2017, when other downtown bridge projects are complete.Lane closures on SW Naito Pkwy under bridge in fall 2017.Two lanes closed on bridge from fall 2017 to fall 2019.
Contractors will work on sections of the bridge in different phases. See attached map to understand when you might expect to see construction occur near you. We will provide regular updates to keep you aware of expected construction timelines and potential impacts as we receive them.

What: You are invited to an open house about three Multnomah County bridge repair projects scheduled for 2017. After replacing the Sellwood Bridge, the county is shifting its focus to repair its historic downtown drawbridges. The meeting includes a presentation on the three projects, information displays, and a chance to share your questions and comments with project leaders.
