Woodlawn-King Streets Sewer Repair Project Update: October 3, 2017
Pipe Repairs Delayed
DEVELOPMENTS OF NOTE
Sewer construction is now scheduled to begin the week of October 9. Over the next two weeks, crews will continue to video inspect the sewer pipes.
- Crews had planned to begin sewer repairs in September. However, Hurricane Harvey damaged PVC pipe manufacturing facilities, delaying the shipment of the pipe needed for Portland repairs. The pipe is expected to arrive in time for open-trench construction to begin the week of October 9, at NE Stafford Street between NE Martin Luther King Avenue and NE 8th Avenue.
- Throughout the neighborhood, video inspection crews will flush sewers with water to clear debris and then insert a video camera to document the condition of the pipe and locate sewer connections to each home or business. Crews will park trucks and equipment near manholes to do this work, which can cause minor traffic disruptions that typically only last about a day at each location.
Construction hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, but the contractor may schedule work during the same hours on Saturdays. The Portland Noise Office approved night work for two locations within the project boundaries. Homes and businesses near these locations will receive a separate notification before night work takes place.
