EMERJ-SafeNow offering self-defense course for Portland’s Deaf Community
“Self-defense for the Deaf Community” is a workshop being offered on Sunday, April 22, by EMERJ-SafeNow. The three-hour workshop will be from 2 to 5 p.m. at Friendly House, 1737 N.W. 26th Avenue.
This workshop, designed for the deaf community and starts with the understanding that loving yourself is the first line of self-defense. Participants are empowered to choose physical and non physical techniques and strategies that best suit their bodies and lifestyle. Workshop includes an ASL interpreter.

EMERJ-SafeNow offers equity based, community involved, violence prevention sessions for organizations and groups.The focus is on serving the needs of vulnerable populations that are at high risk for violence and abuse.
