About
Appointed by the Mayor in consultation with the Parks Commissioner, the Urban Forestry Commission is comprised of 11 volunteers who have demonstrated an interest in the preservation of trees and the beautification of Portland. The Commission serves as an advisory group to the PP&R Director and to the City Forester. The Commission reviews development plans and assesses the impact on the urban forest. It also acts as an appeals board for tree permits, sponsors the Heritage Tree Program, and educates the community about urban forestry issues.

Simply send an email to urbanforestrycommission@portlandoregon.gov and we'll find time on a future agenda.

If you do plan to attend a meeting and provide comment, please briefly review the following information.

  1. Sign Up: At the UFC meeting, simply add your name to the public comment sign-up list by 8:00am.
  2. Have a Seat: When the Commission Chair calls your name, please come up to the seat designated for UFC guest presenters.
  3. Come Prepared: If you bring hand-outs, please bring 15 copies. If you email the file to urbanforestrycommission@portlandoregon.gov by 2pm the day before, we can print them out for you.
  4. Relax: The UFC is made up of community members who care about the city’s trees, just like you. Remember you’re among neighbors and peers who are eager to hear what you have to say.
