Laurelhurst Dance Studio

Dear Laurelhurst Dance Studio Community:

City Council has approved Mayor Wheeler’s FY 2019-20 Proposed Budget, which closes Portland Parks & Recreation’s $6.3 million gap through staff and program reductions and supports our transition funding request.

We expect the FY 2019-20 budget will be formally adopted on June 12, 2019 without any additional substantial changes, and we are moving forward with a transition for Laurelhurst Dance Studio. Specifically:

  • PP&R will stop programming for Laurelhurst Dance Studio in June 2019.
  • Beginning in July 2019, the space will be available for lease to community art and dance uses.
  • If you have registered for a summer class, we will issue a refund. PP&R will initiate the refunds and you will receive an email notification when that occurs. If you have any questions, please contact Soo Pak.

We recognize that these changes affect programs the community values. Our goal is to provide you with alternative options for performing arts classes with Portland Parks & Recreation.

We will continue to update you as the City Council vote moves forward and we begin next steps in our transition. Thank you for your support.

Portland Parks & Recreation offers parent/child, preschool, youth, teen, and adult dance programs for many levels and interests! To see the full selection of dance offerings, click here and select the Performing Arts options under the Activity category or search with these quick links:
