Parks are essential to maintaining our quality of life in Portland, especially as we continue to grow. The City of Portland assesses System Development Charges, one-time fees on new development, to help fund acquisition of parkland and development of park improvements as our city grows.
Portland Parks conducted a review and update of its Park System Development Charges (SDC). PP&R does this every five years. To assist in this review, a Park SDC Taskforce met from December 2012 - January 2015. The taskforce advised on issues such as:
Portland Parks & Recreation prepared a Methodology Update Report and shared it with the public and interested parties. A public hearing before the Portland City Council was held on April 15, 2015 at 2:00 PM. City Council approved the Methodology Update on May 27, 2015.
