||Have you ever gone to the park and wondered why the trees have different leaves? Who is who in our parks? Can you smell the flowers of some trees, can you eat the fruit of others? Did some of our larger trees' ancestors once have giant sloths eating their seeds?
Each of our neighborhood parks is a fascinating collection of trees worthy of being called an arboretum. For the month of July, Urban Forestry will be installing fun, informational signs on select trees in Berrydale, Irving, University, and Gabriel Parks. The installation provides interactive and informative facts about the trees of our parks. This year's Pop-Up Arboreta will be staged across the City of Portland from May through September, so pop in to a pop-up this summer!
You can explore the signs in these Pop-up Arboreta in your local parks throughout the summer. For more information about the trees in Portland's parks, check out the online Park Tree Inventory.
