The Montavilla Early Childhood Education program is built on the phillosophy that young children learn, develop, and grow at their own rate by exploring and manipulating their environment. In essence, we believe children develop and grow through "play." Children learn through the use of their senses as they are exposed to new experiences. Years of research on children's learning and development document the many benefits of play and exploration on a child's intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and language development. As children imitate what goes on around them, they begin to understand how things work and what things are. Initially, this is a process of trial and error, however, eventually with time and repetition they use new information to increase their understanding of the world around them.
To enhance the learning experience, the Early Childhood Education classrooms at Montavilla Community Center are set up with learning centers that enable your child to explore different areas of development such as fine motor, socialization, pre-math, pre-reading, and listening skills. Learning stations allow children to make choices, encourage active learning and hands-on experiences, and provide for individual learning styles.
The Montavilla program stresses the importance of your child developing independent thoughts, problem solving skills, and simple direction-following in a safe, healthy environment. These skills will carry them through the next levels of learning.
