Free Lunch + Play

Starting Monday, June 22, 2020
No programs on Thursday, July 2, and Friday, July 3, 2020.

Portland Parks & Recreation is providing free meals and grab ‘n’ go activities for kids at 26 locations this summer, thanks to NIKE, Inc. All 16 Free Lunch + Play park sites will offer free meals and activities that can be taken home. With support from Bank of America, Mobile Lunch + Play will serve 10 locations with free meals, games, books, and activities that practice safe distancing.

Program locations were selected in coordination with area school districts and other hunger relief programs in a regional response to COVID-19. Find more free meal sites for kids and teens by visiting Summer Meals Map at summerfoodoregon.org/map. Or call 211 or text “FOOD” or “COMIDA” to 877-877 for meal locations.

All are welcome - Let’s play six feet away!

Portland Parks & Recreation is offering Free Lunch + Play programming while following COVID-19 safety guidelines set by Governor Kate Brown and Oregon Health Authority. Please know that Portland Parks & Recreation will be responsive to safety directives that could alter the services listed below. Updates will be made on this page as needed. 57% of young Portlanders qualify for free or reduced-price lunch during the school year. Without school lunches, summer becomes the time when nearly 50,000 Portland children face hunger daily. The Free Lunch + Play program supports families by offering nutritious meals and recreational activities during the summer recess.

Working alongside community partners, Meals on Wheels People, Portland Public Schools, David Douglas, Reynolds, Parkrose, and Centennial School Districts, PP&R coordinates the Free Lunch + Play program to ensure that it meets the changing needs in our community. PP&R and its partners are constantly innovating. Our Mobile Lunch + Play program brings recreation to children at apartment complexes in neighborhoods where parks and playgrounds don’t exist.

Producing these special events is possible with the help of lasting partnerships with neighborhood associations and community members like you!
