Gilbert Primary Park

  • Current Playground at Gilbert Primary Park

Project Update

Help us shape the future of Gilbert Primary Park. With Parks Replacement Bond funding, we will be replacing the playground. We need the community's help to decide what it will look like. This spring, there will be multiple opportunities for the community to give input.

PP&R staff will be attending Gilbert Park Elementary events in March and April to introduce the project and get early input about the community's hopes and desires for the playground. There will be two community meetings in May and June 2018 to get input on draft designs. We hope you will join us!

  • March 13 - 6:30-7:30pm: Gilbert Park Elementary PTA meeting
  • April 19 - 6pm - 8:00pm: Gilbert Park Elementary Multicultural Night
  • May: Community Gathering #1 (date TBD)
  • June: Community Gathering #2 (date TBD)

As part of the pre-design work, contractors will be in the park in the next few weeks to do geotechnical and survey work, so you may see some activity and equipment present.

Project Overview

Gilbert Primary Park has some of the oldest play equipment in the parks system, dating back to the late 1960s. Recently, a slide was removed due to lead paint content. A new playground and ADA pathway improvements are coming to Gilbert Primary Park, thanks to funding from the Parks Replacement Bond.
