Nature Recess! (age 6-10)

Did you know that children who spend time outdoors are more creative, curious, social, & content? Did you know that 26% of Oregon children are described as obese or overweight?

Why not connect S.T.E.M. Learning (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) and highly active time outside for an ultimate learning experience! Nature is the catalyst for learning in this structured, game-and-activity based class where science and ecology are learned through high-energy hands-on activities, science lessons & nature exploration. (This program is being offered in partnership with PBS Kids - Plum Landing, the EDC, RxPlay and us, Environmental Education!)

Ecology, nature play and exploration are good for the body, brain and soul! Based on STEM-based lessons, this drop-off, outdoor, after-school program for children ages 6-10 includes educational games, activities & investigations on the topics of habitats, adaptations, water health, predator-prey relationships & more! All lessons are high-energy and hands-on, and are connected to the Next Generation Science Standards

WHAT TO BRING
Our programs are very active, and we are outside rain or shine. The children who have the most successful experiences are those who arrive with appropriate clothing, footwear, and food. Children should come to each day of the program with the following:

  • Warm clothes, rain gear & rain boots as needed! (Don't have any? Please let us know!)
  • Hat & mittens (Let us know if you need to borrow some.)
  • A snack
  • Water bottle (holds at least 8 oz of water)
  • Comfortable backpack that’s an appropriate size/weight for your child to hold the snack and water bottle - we like kids to have free hands for activities!

WITHDRAWAL POLICY
Participants can receive a full refund if they are withdrawn from the class at least 7 days before the first day of the program.
