Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry is proud to present the 2017 Neighborhood Tree Steward Program. The cost of the entire course is only $25 (scholarships are available). This seven session course will provide an overview of: tree biology, tree identification, tree pruning and maintenance, proper planting technique, ecosystem services, pests and pathogens of the urban forest, and urban forest management and policy.
No previous experience is needed to become a Neighborhood Tree Steward (NTS), but you do need a passion for trees, a desire to learn, and the commitment to help. If you do have some experience with trees, this course will deepen your base of knowledge and provide opportunities for leadership in your community.
Service is a vital component of the NTS program and Tree Stewards are asked to volunteer with tree related community projects after graduation.
