Questions about the PP&R Wedding Lottery

The Wedding Lottery for the 2020 season is now open through Thursday, December 5, 2019.

Q: Why is PP&R using a wedding lottery system?  

A: Due to extensive repairs on the Portland Building, the Customer Service Center moved to 111 SW Columbia Street, Suite 660. This new, smaller location was not able to accommodate the traditional wedding day reservation line, so a lottery system was determined to be the best way to accommodate wedding hopefuls. PP&R held its first ever wedding lottery in November, 2017 with positive results. We have decided to continue with this system through the 2020 season.

Q: How do I enter the lottery?  

A: Starting November 12, 2019 at 8:30am, PP&R will begin taking lottery submissions for the 2020 wedding season.

Reservation requests will require basic contact information, location/date request information, and a $121.25 non-refundable application fee to confirm entry. All complete requests will be entered in the lottery – maximum one entry per couple. Submissions will be accepted through Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 5:00pm.

Q: What if my wedding event is taking place January or February 2020?    

A: Wedding events taking place in January or February 2020 can be booked by calling the Customer Service Center. Reservations will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. The wedding lottery is only for wedding events taking place between March 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.

Q: Where can I find information about PP&R’s wedding locations?

A: You can view the wedding brochure or contact the Customer Service Center to request that a brochure be emailed or mailed to your address. Brochures can also be obtained at the Customer Service Center office. Please note that 2019 wedding fees will be in effect through December 31, 2019. Reservations requested after January 1, 2020 will be charged the 2020 rates. A new 2020 brochure will be posted to the website in November 2019.

Q: How can I check availability of locations prior to entering the lottery?

A: You can contact the Customer Service Center to receive information about annual events or maintenance closures that may impact availability.

Q: Why do I need to provide more than one contact phone number when submitting my reservation request?

A: When it is time for your reservation request to be processed following the lottery drawing, we will contact you on the first, second, and third phone numbers you provided, as necessary. Multiple phone numbers will help ensure we can reach you. (See question: “Will I be contacted...” in this FAQ for more details)

Q: How many times can I enter the lottery?

A: Only one entry per couple is allowed. Duplicate submissions will be removed without refund. 

Q:  Why do I need to pay the $117 lottery fee? Is it refundable if I decide not to book my wedding event with PP&R?

A: The $121.25 lottery fee is a non-refundable application processing fee that is required to enter the lottery. 

Q: How do I confirm that my request has been entered in the lottery?  Will someone notify me that my information was received?

A: PP&R will send you an email confirming that your request has been submitted, and provide you a reservation request number. You may also contact the Customer Service Center to confirm submission.

Q: How will my place in the lottery be determined?

A: Each reservation request will be given a unique number at time of submission (the number will be provided to you in your confirmation email). On the day of the lottery drawing (Friday, December 6, 2019), all numbers will be placed in a large glass bowl and mixed thoroughly. The numbers will then be drawn one at a time and assigned a ranking - the first number drawn will be #1, the second drawn will be #2, and so on until all reservation requests have been ranked.

Q:  When and how do I find my lottery ranking?

A: PP&R will draw the lottery on December 6, 2019 at 10am. The drawing will be shown live via video fee through the PP&R Facebook page. The lottery order and ranking will be posted the same day on the PP&R website for all applicants to view.

Q: How soon after the lottery drawing will my wedding event be reserved?

A: PP&R will begin processing reservations starting Monday, December 9 at 8:00am in the order drawn. All reservations will be booked by December 31, 2019.

Q: Will I be able to monitor progress as the requests are being processed, including locations/dates already reserved?

A: Yes, reserved locations and dates will be posted right here on our weddings page after each reservation request is processed. We recommend that you monitor the website on a regular basis to prepare for your request to be processed, and to think of alternate locations and dates if necessary.

Q: Will I be contacted when it is time for my reservation request to be processed?

A: PP&R will contact you on the primary phone number you provided to book your wedding event. If we are unable to reach you at the primary phone number, we will leave a voicemail (if possible) and call the second phone number. If we are still unable to reach you, we will contact the individual you designated using the third phone number – it is extremely important to provide reliable contact information, as this designated individual will be authorized to make reservation decisions on your behalf. If we are unable to reach you, we will wait two hours before processing the next reservation request. If you call back after the two-hour hold has passed, your request will be processed immediately.

Q: What happens if none of my choices (dates or locations) are available by the time my reservation request is processed?

A: Entry into the PP&R wedding lottery does not guarantee reservation of your requested location(s) or date(s). However, if your choices are not available at the time your request is processed, our Customer Service Representatives will help you find a suitable alternative.

Q: How do I know what my wedding will cost?

A: All reservation requests submitted though the lottery will be charged the 2019 application processing fee (due at time of lottery entry). All other fees will be charged at the 2020 rate and are due at time of processing, or as established in the payment plan.

Q: What if I don’t want to participate in the wedding lottery? Can I still book my wedding event with PP&R? 

A: On January 2, 2020, PP&R will begin taking additional wedding reservations for the 2020 season on a first-come, first served basis. You may request a reservation online, in person, or by phone if your selected location(s) and date(s) are available.
