Event Types > Community Events
The Free Skills Series is a family-friendly monthly class exploring different aspects of rewilding, and is free and open to the public. Our Free Skills Series has one core ethic behind it: All people must have free and open access to creating resilience in their lives. It is a place to meet new people and hang out with old friends while learning skills that connect us with humanity’s ancestral past and more local and sustainable future. We suggest a $10–$20 donation, with no one turned away.
December: Social Forestry
Join Rewild as we talk about permaculture principles for the forest ecosystem, in a greater community. We will discuss wildness and restoration in urban environments, through the lens of rewilding and resilience. Putting the concepts to work, we will engage in restoration efforts with our hands in the dirt. This Social Forestry program is inspired by permaculture teacher Hazel (AKA Tom Ward) of Siskiyou Permaculture. For the class we will be pruning the fruit trees at the orchard at the Columbia Children's Arboretum. The trees have been neglected for a while, so we are excited to help care for this orchard!
