Volunteer Opportunities for January 2015 Homeless Street Count
Volunteers are needed to assist with Multnomah County’s biennial Homeless Street Count. Help us get answers about how many people in our community are sleeping outside, who they are, how long they have been homeless and what kind of help they need to overcome barriers to health and housing.
What is the Homeless Street Count?
The Homeless Street Count is conducted every two years in an effort to learn more about the individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Multnomah County. An accurate count makes our community eligible for millions of dollars in funding for essential services and provides us with important information so we can direct resources and design programs that meet the community’s needs.
Data Entry Volunteers
Volunteers are needed in February and March 2015 to assist in entering data from the Street Count survey forms into an electronic database.
Data entry volunteers need to be:
- Detail oriented;
- Committed to accuracy;
- Good typists;
- Computer literate;
- Willing to do repetitive data entry tasks;
- Able to adhere to confidentiality protocols.
Volunteers will work on site with staff at the Portland Housing Bureau (421 SW 6th Ave, Suite 500, Portland). One-on-one training will be provided and staff will be available to answer questions and problem solve as issues arise.
The timing of data entry volunteer shifts will be fairly flexible, but they will need to occur during the workday. Volunteers must be available for at least four hours, and preference will be given to volunteers who can commit to 20-40 hours of volunteer time.
If you are interested in volunteering, contact Carrie Young at firstname.lastname@example.org. You will be able to sign up for the shift(s) that work for you (dates and times).
