In 2016, Oregon Governor Kate Brown designated the “Lents Stabilization and Job Creation Collaborative” as an Oregon Solutions project to protect floodplain homeowners, prevent displacement, promote business growth, and increase local jobs by reducing Johnson Creek flood impacts in the Lents and Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhoods. This two-year project brings together residents, industrial landowners, elected officials, and local, state, and federal agencies in a coordinated effort to:
- Protect floodplain homeowners, reduce flood insurance costs, and prevent displacement;
- Promote business growth and increase local jobs; and,
- Reduce Johnson Creek’s flooding impacts.
