On June 10, 2003, around 4 am, a Pinkerton Security guard discovered the body of a 43-year-old woman lying in the doorway of a building on NW 2nd Av between Couch and Burnside Streets.
The victim was later identified as Christine Ione Lawson, 5’1”, 125 lbs, a woman described as a transient who had family in California.
Ms Lawson was known to police as a crack cocaine user and prostitute who frequented the Old Town area. An autopsy determined that Ms Lawson died of “homicidal violence.” Crime scene evidence led Detectives to believe that Ms. Lawson was killed at another location and then her body was moved.
