Case #77-59271

On August 15, 1977, an employee of the Portland Development Commission observed a body floating in the Willamette River near the Ankeny Pump Station at approximately 2:15 pm. Multnomah County Sheriff’s River Patrol retrieved the victim, 24-year-old Allen James Hamilton, a Native American male, from the river and placed him on a float near the pump station. An autopsy concluded that Mr. Hamilton had been stabbed, but died as the result of drowning.

Mr. Hamilton was reported to be a transient and had issues with alchol.  He  was last seen on August 12, at the Tacoma Tavern at approximately 5:00 pm. He was drinking with two unidentified African-American males and one unidentified white male.
