On June 7, 1998, Portland Fire Bureau responded at approximately 2:20 am to a single vehicle accident in the tunnel area of the on-ramp to I-405 off of NW 16th Avenue and Everett Street. They found the victim, 33-year-old white male Jeffrey Steven Lange, shot to death inside his car with his car having numerous bullet holes.
Jeffrey Lange was a passionate golfer with no criminal history. He was described by his friends as an all around great guy and was well-liked by everyone who knew him.
Witnesses reported seeing two men running east from the area where the shots had been heard.
