On May 19, 1980, a young girl was walking on the 100 block of NE Sacramento at approximately 8:00 in the morning when she discovered someone lying in the weeds of a vacant lot on the south side of the street. An autopsy revealed that Mr. Fierro had died from apparent stab wounds.

Mr. Fierro was wanted for auto theft at the time of his murder. Mr. Fierro was last seen at approximately 8:00 pm the night before near the lower east Burnside area.
