On December 19, 2000, at about 10:53 pm, Officers responded to NE 27th Street just south of N Lombard Street, to the report of shots fired. Upon arrival in the area, they found the victim, Bertrell Coleman, a 26 year old African-American male, lying in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Officers found Mr. Coleman deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle leaving the apartment complex moments after hearing multiple shots being fired. The vehicle was described as a brown Cadillac Seville with a light colored top, possibly a mid-eighties model, with four doors. It is possible that this vehicle could have had a dent in the front quarter panel on the driver’s side. Witnesses reported seeing two African-American males, wearing dark clothing in the vehicle. It was last seen traveling east on Lombard St. The Cold Case Unit would like anyone with information regarding this case to contact them.
