As the Chief of Police for the Portland Police Bureau I am committed to learning everything I can about the Bureau and the City.
I want to thank Interim Chief Chris Uehara, Assistant Chiefs Chris Davis and Matt Wagenknecht and Acting Assistant Chief Robert King for their hard work over the last two months prior to my arrival. They have been nothing but welcoming as I step into this new role. A special thank you to former Chief Mike Marshman who demonstrated his dedication to the Portland Police Bureau during his tenure and served the city with distinction.
My first priority is to get to know the members of the Police Bureau. I have told them to expect me to show up in their workplace, whether it be an office or patrol car and learn about their work.
I am also committed to being out and about in our city and meeting community members. We are an organization that is introspective and accountable. My goal is for the Portland Police Bureau to not only be in line with national best practices, but to raise the bar on all levels.
I have found Portland to be a city that encourages boldness, tenacity and authenticity. People can come here and be who they are. I am excited to be a new resident in this beautiful city and look forward to things to come.
