Community Policing Spotlight, June 17, 2018

Portland Pride Festival
June 17, 2018: Various Divisions
Officers and sworn personnel participated in the Portland Pride Festival, marched in the parade and greeted community members.

Hero Day at Randall Children’s Hospital
June 16, 2018: Central/North Precincts
Central and North sworn personnel attended the event and met with approximately 100 community members, pediatric patients, and their families while discussing what the police do and what tools are available to them. This event brightened the day of both community members and the Officers involved.

Ami’s Community Care Precinct Tour

Officers facilitated a tour for advocacy group for people with developmental disabilities.

Elder Abuse Awareness Day Proclamation
June 14, 2018: Family Services Division
Family Services Division personnel, along with representatives from the Multnomah County Adult Protective Service and the Domestic Violence Advocate program, presented before County Commissioner’s about the new county Elder and Vulnerable Adults Domestic Violence advocate. The commissioners also unanimously proclaimed June 14th  as Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Portland Police Bureau K9 of the Year Award Ceremony

Officers attended this annual event,  in which the community honors the K9 Unit.

Iftar MAC Celebration

Members attend the Iftar celebration, along with the Muslim Advisory Council. This was an opportunity to build 

 understanding of great variety of difference in the Muslim community and similarities of all Portland communities.

 

Boy Scouts tour Central Precinct
June 6, 2018: Central Precinct
Approximately 24 Boy Scouts and their troop leaders where given a tour of Central Precinct. Officers discussed several topics such as community policing and the different branches of the Police Bureau. A K-9 Officer talked about the canine, their role and gave a demonstration

BoyStrength Summer Kickoff and Graduation
June 6, 2018: Family Services
BoyStrength Program Specialist, Monae Elliott hosted this event held at PPB Training Facility to celebrate the participants’ successful completion of 9 week program for middle school aged boys.
