The Portland Police Bureau is hosting two community loopbacks to present the major themes heard from community and bureau staff as part of its Strategic Planning process. The presentation will be followed by small group discussion.
Event Types > Community Events
Mix/Mingle (5 mins) – Meet each other and get settled.
Intro (8 mins) – A brief description of the project, where we currently are in the process, how the community is involved, and how this meeting fits in. Announce next meeting and where individuals can go for more information.
Set the Tone (7 mins) – Describe the meeting’s structure and flow. Go over group agreements, including timing, topic areas, and respectful listening practices.
Small Group Discussion (15-20 mins per topic, three topics total) – A brief presentation of the major themes by Police Bureau goals, followed by small group discussions to address the following questions:
• Major themes: Are they accurately captured? Are they relevant?
• Creative solutions: What are your ideas for strategies to address the themes?
• Barriers/Opportunities: Are there specific barriers that may have to be overcome to implement the strategy or address the theme? Are there specific opportunities that currently exist?
Thank you and Next Steps (5 mins) – Review how this information will be used and additional ways to provide feedback.
Announce next steps and where individuals can go for more information.
