Hazelwood Neighborhood Shooting Ruled a Homicide, Victim Identified (Photo)

The victim in the shooting on December 12th, 2021 at East Burnside Street and Southeast 124th Avenue has been identified as Christian Z. McNeill, 18. McNeill’s family provided the attached photo for public release, but they are requesting privacy and not granting media interviews.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined McNeill died from a gunshot wound and ruled his death a homicide.

On December 12, 2021, at 6:40 p.m., officers from the East Precinct responded to a shooting call in the 12400 block of East Burnside Street. When officers arrived they located a male victim who was deceased.

Portland Police Homicide detectives have responded to the scene to investigate. During the investigation eastbound East Burnside is closed from Southeast 122nd Avenue to Southeast 124th Avenue. Max lines are not interrupted at this time.

The identity of the victim as well as cause and manner of death will be determined by the Oregon State Medical Examiner. Additional information will be released at the discretion of investigators.
