Update: Identity of Homicide Victim Released (Photo)

On August 27, 2020, at about 9:02 p.m., Portland Police responded to shots fired at Gateway Discovery Park, near the 10500 block of Northeast Halsey Street. Four people had been shot, one of whom did not survive.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Officer determined 16 year old Jaelin James Scott died of a gunshot wound and ruled his death a homicide. Scott's next of kin has been notified and has provided this photograph of him.

Three other young adults were shot during the incident and were transported to area hospitals and are expected to survive. The Portland Police Bureau isn't releasing their names or injuries.

On August 27, 2020, at approximately 9:02 p.m., East Precinct Officers responded to the area of Gateway Discovery Park in the 10500 block of Northeast Halsey Street on reports of shots fired. When officers arrived they found four victims with gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to area hospitals by ambulance. The victims' medical status is unknown at this time.

Officers have secured the crime scene and Portland Police Bureau's Detective Division is responding to assist in the investigation. Northeast 104th Avenue to Northeast 106th Avenue from Northeast Wasco Street to Northeast Halsey Street is closed. Media staging is at Northeast 104th Avenue and Northeast Wasco Street.

The PIO is not responding to the scene.

If anyone has information about the shootings and has not been contacted by investigators, they are asked to call the non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.

An update will be provided if appropriate for the investigation.
